Stretching should be an activity practised by everyone. By increasing the length of muscles we increase range of movement, flexibility, power and balance. This helps to prevent sports injuries such as tendon and ligament strains and tears. It is essential in post-operative care such as hip and knee replacement rehabilitation. It also helps to reduce post exercise muscle soreness and can improve posture, coordination and promote circulation, not to forget aiding relaxation and relief of stress.
