Soft Tissue Release (STR)
STR is a quick and effective technique for releasing local areas of muscle tension and scar tissue from soft tissue injury. the immediacy of the results make it a useful tool in pre event situations. It can also be effective on tendons and ligaments. Determining when to use STR on a patient will be decided during the initial assessment and palpation of the areas pointed out by the patient. Poor texture will often indicate tightness, resistant fibres or a lack of mobility. There may be adhesions in the fascia or hard scar tissue as a result of an operation. STR can restore flexibility and assist with rehabilitation provided there are no medical reasons why it should not be used. The technique can be repeated many times f it follows a smooth rhythm and can be used sitting, standing or in any position and also through clothes in any situation. The therapist will focus on a specific area which may be very close to an acute area of damage - this is very normal.
Great for: Post-operation/ Post accident/ General Maintenance/ Tendonitis
